The all-out political war being waged against Donald Trump can only be explained by recognizing that when Trump entered presidential politics in 2015, as a Washington outsider, he was a threat to the Washington establishments of both political parties. Democrats and Republicans in Washington had been working together for decades to concentrate their power in the federal government.
For the Democratic Party, Trump’s America First policies threatened the finalization of the American Welfare State that had been growing during the administrations of Democratic Presidents Woodrow Wilson, Franklin Roosevelt, and Lyndon Johnson. When he proclaimed before his election that “We are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America”, President-elect Obama assumed the final elements of the Welfare State could be consummated during his administration.
The Obama Administration took major steps to complete the socialization of the United States by passing Obamacare in a late-night Congressional session and creating a cadre of over seventy administrative state Czars to implement total federal control over all aspects of American society. When Obama’s second term was over, some final steps still needed to be completed. He chose Hillary Clinton to succeed him to finish the transformation. Donald Trump’s triumph over Hillary in 2015 delayed or destroyed those plans, and because Donald Trump was not intimidated, he must be destroyed.
The establishment’s attacks on Trump damaged his first administration. The attacks continued while he was out of office during the Biden Administration to ensure he would never return to defeat their transformational plans for America.
For establishment Republicans, Trump’s policies threatened Globalization, the glue that kept affluent Americans satisfied. Shipping American jobs overseas was made politically possible by enlarging a welfare state to pacify the less well-off Americans who were harmed by moving so many jobs out of the country after World War II. When Trump became president, those in power had no excuses or alternative policies to undo the damage they had done to undermine the great American experiment of the People ruling themselves.
This was the political and economic environment that set the stage for the Trump Derangement Syndrome to develop so dramatically within those in power, and why they went to such extremes in the media and throughout society to destroy him and his followers. The next phase of the Trump Derangement Syndrome is being continued to destroy the Second Trump Administration, which again impeded finalizing their plans.
Unless they make a sudden course correction, the Democrats will be using the affordability issue to defeat the Republicans and the Trump Administration in the 2026 Congressional midterm elections. This strategy is one of misplaced blame because affordability becomes a political issue for less-than-wealthy Americans as inflation decreases their purchasing options, which the Democratic Biden Administration caused and which the Trump Administration is bringing back under control. To obscure this dichotomy from public perception and their responsibility for creating the problem, the Democrats are waging a week-by-week all-out assault on Donald Trump’s credibility.
From 2020, beginning with the COVID-19 pandemic, the federal government has poured $10 trillion into inflation, creating federal debt that soared to over $36 trillion before President Biden left office. This amount included $20 trillion of inflation-producing federal debt since 2000 under the Bush II and Obama Administrations. Trump substantially increased federal revenues during his first term, but not enough to offset entrenched federal programs.
The Democratic leaders in Congress shut down the federal government to perpetuate Obamacare programs, which added directly to the inflation Biden created. By prolonging the 2025 government shutdown in October/November for 43 days, the Trump Administration’s efforts to slow inflation stalled. Trump hysteria within the media increased as Democrats and their fellow travelers tried to blame Trump for the shutdown.
Last week, the worm turned when the media was forced to report that major welfare fraud was alive and well among Somali immigrants in quiet, law-abiding Minnesota. Early this year, Elon Musk and his crew pursued fraud, waste, and abuse in the federal government, only to be beaten back by Democratic Congressional members and lower court judges who were protecting their most sacred sources of power, their Welfare State payoffs to voters, non-governmental rent-seekers, and campaign contributors.
The 2016 midterm election and the 2028 presidential election will determine whether the United States is fundamentally changed or whether the private enterprise system within a Federal Republic founded 250 years ago will be allowed to continue.
The voters will decide!
