How does a leaderless political party win an election when it has nothing positive to run on? This was the question facing the progressive gurus after Donald Trump defeated the disastrous Harris/Biden ticket in the 2024 U.S. presidential election. During Trump’s first year, the progressives waged a war of ‘Resistance’ against anything the Trump Administration proposed, right, wrong, or indifferent. They closed the government twice, opposed an Iranian war that every president since 1979 knew had to be waged, fought deporting illegal criminal immigrants, and opposed income tax cuts that would offset the high inflation generated by the excessive spending of the Biden Administration. Not exactly a winning combination!
One progressive bright guru who was old enough to remember the oft-quoted political cliche, ‘It’s the economy, Stupid!’, came up with the idea of taking one of the party’s greatest negatives, “inflation”, giving it another name, “affordability”, and then blaming it on the Republicans. The two worst Democratic presidents were Jimmy Carter, when inflation peaked at 14.6 percent, who drove the inflation rate so high that the term ‘misery index’ was coined, and Joe Biden, who signed major legislation named “Inflation Reduction Act of 2022”, with inflation at 9.1 percent, passed just four years ago, to counter his administration’s excessive spending.
The highest peak inflation rate since Trump took office was 3.8 percent. Maybe progressive voters with short attention spans will forget that Biden’s 9.1 percent ‘inflation’ scam is much higher than Trump’s 3.8 percent ‘affordability’!
This political deceit of renaming a negative to influence voters was used by the progressives to promote Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act, whose provisions had very little, if any, to do with reducing inflation, for the legislation was promoted as ‘containing the largest nationwide public investments in social, infrastructural, and environmental programs since the 1930s’. Governmental ‘spending’ was thusly renamed ‘investments’ to make this massive spending program palatable to voters. Governments spend, not invest!
Partisan politicians seeking or holding power have been especially willing to corrupt the English language to promote their agendas. Transgenderism has become a modern political phenomenon that was an unknown problem as little as ten years ago. In discussing the issue, advocates can no longer differentiate between a ‘man’ and a ‘woman’. In their new vocabulary, the sterilization of children becomes ‘gender affirming surgery’.
Modern political transgenderism would not be possible today had earlier progressives not made abortion rights a base principle of party participation. Each year in the Black community, 40 percent or more black children are aborted, which, in other circumstances, would ethically be a case of government-sponsored Black genocide. But this is allowed because basic progressive theology holds that all allegiances, such as family or religion, must be replaced by the government, from which all rights and privileges are to be provided. The Great Society Welfare State regulations destroyed many family economic units, especially among the Black community, absolving all parties from responsibility for diminishing the size of American family units.
A ‘sanctuary’ is defined as ‘a place of refuge or safety. Thus, when areas of our country become a refuge for criminal populations, they become dangerous, threatening, perilous, vulnerable, insecure, and risky for ‘law-abiding citizens’.
As Americans, we enjoy a common language for accurately communicating ideas. As we move closer to the midterm elections, the progressive candidates will be twisting their tongues into pretzels in their deceitful attempts to pervert our English language to support their attacks on our culture and our Constitution.
Listen carefully; the language scam will dominate the fall political scene.
