State of the Union – February 2026: A Void in Space after Trump

Since he came down the golden elevator in Trump Tower on June 16, 2015, Donald Trump has been God’s gift to the vacuity of most American political thought.  Almost from that moment until now, aspiring mentally challenged politicians and their highly partisan advocates no longer must either state or defend their political positions.  All they must do is to attack Trump to justify themselves as being on the righteous side of history!

When Trump entered the Republican 2016 presidential primary debates, ‘Never-Trumpers’ from the elite Republican mainstream no longer had to argue their globalization policies to the public.  When he won the nomination and ran against Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, she attacked Trump personally and half of his supporters as “deplorable.  She accused them of being “racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic”.  Basket of deplorables – Wikipedia

The 2020 presidential election was unique in that the incumbent president, Donald Trump, was being impeached by the Democratic-dominated House during the primaries, and the election was held during the COVID19 shutdowns.  COVID-19 pandemic in the United States – Wikipedia

Trump’s opponent was 52-year Washington veteran, Joe Biden.  He was a late stand-in to keep front-runner socialist Bernie Sanders from redefining the Democratic Party as being a Socialist Party, which they were then not quite yet prepared to do.  Biden chose California Senator Kamala Harris as his vice-presidential running mate.  Russia, China, and Iran were accused of trying to influence the election to Trump, so the Democrats for a second presidential election made Trump, not their policies, an election focus, winning with 332-226 electoral votes.  Russian interference in the 2020 United States elections – Wikipedia

After seeking the presidency three previous times, mentally and age-challenged Biden spent his time enjoying being the U.S. president by occasionally attacking Trump and letting his administration be managed by an unknown, unelected staff and bureaucrats.  His Justice Department and others spent their efforts to place Trump behind bars for the rest of his life, barred from any further presidential aspirations.  Indictments against Donald Trump – Wikipedia

The 2024 presidential election campaign season opened with Biden debate performance revealing his mental deterioration, and his being forced to retire from the race by former President Obama, Pelosi, and others.  Known for her ‘word-salad’ inability to discuss policy issues, Vice-President Kamala Harris languidly defended Biden’s policies that created high inflation and massive federal deficits, which received no voter traction.  Then she aggressively defined Trump as a ‘threat to Democracy’, without defining why he was a threat.  Harris revives message around democracy as Trump escalates rhetoric. Will it work? – ABC News

Trump beat Harris in the electoral vote 312 to 226, won the popular vote, and won the swing states for a convincing victory.

One year deep into his second term for President Trump gave the annual State of the Union Address last night at the House Speaker’s traditional invitation.  Seventy-five members of the Democratic caucus chose not to attend the president’s speech.

Earlier this month, three Democratic presidential Innocents Abroad met the international press at 82nd Munich Security Conference.  Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) muffed a question on the U.S.-Taiwan defense issue and incorrectly located Venezuela south of the Equator.  Gavin Newsom touted his outdated climate message that has ravaged the economies of both his native California and his hosts in the European Union.  Gretchen Whitmer, Governor of Michigan, failed the foreign test even worse.  The Democrats, i.e. Progressives, may have to look wider before they have someone ready for Prime-Time in 2028.   5 takeaways from a tense Munich Security Conference, VIDEO: Gretchen Whitmer, AOC suffer foreign policy implosion on Munich ‘foreign policy’ panel – The Midwesterner

Since 2015, the Democratic Party has handed over its leadership to the Progressives.  The Party has spent so much of their efforts on defaming Donald Trump that they have found themselves in a space void in defining who they are in this changing 21st Century world.  Are they to become the socialists of Mamdani, Sanders, and AOC, or the California environmentalists of Newsom?  Or something else?

With Trump soon to leave the political scene and with a policy void in the Democratic/Progressive Party that is uncertain about its future direction, America’s two-party system is dangerously unbalanced and divided.
