The New/Old Democratic Socialist Party: American Socialism Finally Emerges from the Closet

It took a 33-year-old, unknown candidate for Mayor of New York City, living over 150 years after Karl Marx, to bring ‘Socialism’ out of the closet and into the mainstream of American politics.  Beginning in the 20th Century, the Democratic Party in the United States has been covertly following Karl Marx’s blueprint as it utilized Democracy on its road to replace the nation’s capitalist-market economic system with a socialist utopia.  Now that the secret is out (of the closet), the party’s faithful can now honestly present themselves to the electorate for what they are, or hope to be, Karl Marx Socialists!

Karl Marx recognized that ‘democracy’ is an essential pathway to achieving socialism.  Under a democracy, oppressed classes could organize, express their demands, and ultimately take control of political power.  According to Marx, capitalistic systems would be remade with the principles of social justice, equality of result, and collective ownership, and replaced with a ‘dictatorship of the proletariat’.

Marx’s dictatorship could only be achieved in the United States by undermining its Constitution, with its Republic formulated by the Founders, as an obstacle to dictatorial change of power.  President Woodrow Wilson inaugurated the first of these changes with a national income tax on individuals to control their wealth (1913) and by turning over the nation’s financial control into the hands of an unelected Federal Reserve Board (1913).  In 1913, the republican form was diminished with the direct election of Senators taken away from State legislatures and made a direct election by the voters.

Presidential power had been diminished by the unelected, unlimited Wilson Administrative State, but the Presidency was further reduced by limiting it to two terms in 1951.  With federal legislators holding unlimited terms, their power was enhanced over that of the president as provided in the original Constitution.

Elite American universities provided the Democrats with the ideological tools to morph into ‘Progressives’ during the Obama years.  Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and Critical Race Theory (CRT) were new definitions for explaining Marx’s oppressed classes.  DEI and CRT were the intellectual excuses that students could rationalize their anti-Semitic chants “from the River to the Sea” before they graduated into pushing socialism in Wilson’s Washington administrative swamp.

During the 2024 presidential election, the most frequent theme used by the Democrats against Donald Trump was his being ‘a threat to democracy’, not a threat to the Constitution.  After Trump was elected, Democrats’ greatest ‘resistance’ to him has been against his campaign pledge to deport the millions of undocumented immigrants allowed into the country by the Biden Administration.  Approximately 46 million immigrants reside in the U.S., 12 million of whom are undocumented.

In the 2024 presidential election, Trump beat Harris in the popular vote by less than three million votes.  With America so closely divided, converting immigrants into welfare voters is why the Democrats push the theme of democracy, subsidize illegal immigrants with social benefits, and have taken to the streets opposing ICE officials picking them up for deportation.

Just before becoming President in 2008, Barack Obama announced, We are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America”.  As a community organizer, Barck had studied, used, and taught Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals”.  He chose Hillary Clinton, also a fan of Alinsky, a community activist and political theorist, as his Secretary of State, to assist in that transformation.  Eight years later, in 2016, Obama chose Hillary to follow him into the presidency.

Sixteen consecutive years of Obama and Clinton in power should have completed the circle of American Socialism.  However, outsider Donald Trump intervened in 2016, delaying the progressive transformation for four years.  One-term presidential placeholder Joe Biden was incapable of finishing the job, and Trump intervened a second time by defeating Kamala Harris in 2024, again delaying the transformation of America.

In the next election, in which the Democratic Socialists win even a bare majority of federal power, unlimited democracy will allow them to create millions of new voters to complete the Marxist Socialism of America.

If Democracy is the road to socialism, then the Constitution is its antidote!
