Washington Betrays the American People: The Constitution’s Three Unforgivable Sins

An ‘unforgivable sin’, as conceived in religious terms, is when a person or group knows the truth and then speaks, blasphemes, and works to undermine it because acknowledging the truth would diminish their power. As this concept applies to an unpardonable act against the American Republic set up in the United States Constitution, our Founders named only three crimes necessary to include – Counterfeiting, Bribery, and Treason.  All were placed in the Constitution to ensure that politicians abide by sound financial governing (counterfeiting), free of corruption (bribery) and devoid of acts that make the country unsafe (treason).

We have allowed those we sent to Washington to commit these three unpardonable sins against the American People.  We have met the enemy, and he is us!

In Article. I. Section. 8. Counterfeiting, as the first Constitutional crime specified, may seem a strange choice for special early attention.  However, when it is treated as massive currency devaluation, this one act has precipitated more regimes to fail than any other cause.  Persistent high inflation, high interest rates, and excessive national debt are still counterfeiting political crimes but with more indulgent names.

The denarius was the backbone of the Roman economy for four hundred years, but its silver purity and weight decreased, reducing its purchasing power.  At the end of the Empire, its inhabitants reverted to using barter, abandoning the use of the debased denarius.  Currency devaluation and the resulting hyperinflation were a prime cause of the fall of Czarist Russia in 1917, Germany’s Weimar Republic in 1933, Venezuela’s Economic Crisis in the 2020s, and the United States in 20??.

Once we expected cradle-to-grave goodies, we elected representatives to perpetuate and expand them.  Those continuously maintained by us in office have built the U.S. into a $2 trillion annual deficit, $36 trillion in federal debt, and interest payments of $1 trillion annually.  Each U.S. citizen now carries $100,000 of responsibility for that debt and over $500,000 of Unfunded Entitlement Promises!  All this deficit spending occurred during peacetime, not while waging wars!

Republicans joined with Democrats to create this impending crisis; unless these leopards change their spots, even a business genius like Elon Musk will not defeat these political criminals clinging to their Washington power whose votes are needed to prevent the gathering financial storm.

Bribery in Article. II. Section.  4. defines the two sides of the most frequent exercise of government corruption – the giving or taking of benefits in an official government position.  Even dim-witted politicians have mastered the fine art of bribing voters to get elected and reelected until they reach their maximum level of incompetence.  However, after less than 30 days in office, the new administration exposed a unique framework taken to higher levels to perpetuate massive fraud within the federal bureaucracy than previously exposed.

Clever U.S. politicians have designed a multi-tiered organization model to launder vast sums of money from the federal coffers in a circular scheme that feeds both sides of the bribery and defies accountability oversight.  In this design, a shell organization is set up to obtain the grant for a lofty-sounding worthy purpose.  Then, the grant money is laundered through other non-profit organizations to divide the funds.  Each group returns a ‘vig’ to the benefactor and his political party.  A similar scheme made Charles Ponzi famous in the 1920s and is well-known by law enforcement and the media, but watchdog Inspector General’s remained silent.

Although imbedded twice in the Constitution, Treason in Article. II. Section.  4. and Article. III. Section.  3. has been the most sparingly enforced of the three unforgivable U.S. crimes.  Treason can include crimes of levying war against your nation, betraying your nation by acts considered dangerous to security, and giving aid or comfort to your nation’s enemies.  Under U.S. Code Title 18, the penalty for treason is death or not less than five years’ imprisonment with a minimum fine of $10,000.  If not sentenced to death, the criminal would forfeit the right to hold public office in the United States.

Under any rational analysis, America’s greatest external military threat resides in Communist China.  Overtly and covertly, China considers the United States its economic and military adversary in achieving its dominance in East Asia and beyond.  Xi Jinping’s aggressive actions to invade, blockade, or take other coercive actions to conquer Taiwan would put our two nations on the verge of immediate military conflict.

When previous U.S. administrations welcomed Communist China into its protected trading realm twenty-five years ago, they might be excused for mistaken assumptions or even wishful thinking. After China’s true objectives became visible to all in recent years, though, our political class allowed the United States to single-handedly fund China’s massive enlargement of its military capability while allowing our country’s relative military capability to decline disastrously.   Over the last ten years, the U.S. trade deficit with China, which funded its prosperity, has been $3.5 trillion.  This exceeds China’s ten-year total military spending by approximately $500 billion!

Even the most liberal interpretation that could be applied to this third unforgivable crime, by acts considered dangerous to security, and giving aid or comfort to your nation’s enemies, would make our government officials collectively guilty of an unforgivable sin.

Soon after our nation’s founding, French philosopher, writer, lawyer, and diplomat Joseph de Maistre is attributed to the quote: “Every nation gets the government it deserves”.

We have met the enemy, and he is us!
