Uniting a Divided America – The Critical 2024 Election (A 2023 Message to Jake Tapper from Flyover Country)

The following is an excerpt from the 2023 book written by John Whitmore Jenkins, “Looking Through a Glass Darkly: Divided America and the Gathering Storm”, pages 239-240 – available on Amazon.  Written in Dallas, Texas, in early 2023.

Even with the progress already made, a Constitutional Convention is unlikely to be accomplished in the current belligerent political atmosphere. Unless the voters of both political parties find the courage to nominate new faces for the presidency in 2024, the nation will grow even more divided during the next administration, regardless of who is elected!

As of this writing in the spring of 2023, both Biden and Trump have announced their candidacies. Neither is calling for Congressional term limits much less direct election of U.S. Senators. Almost certainly the hostility between our two political parties will continue if the presidential election of 2024 becomes a rematch between Joe Biden and Donald Trump.

Democrats’ irrational hatred of Donald Trump is unique in American politics. Not since the Civil War and the vitriol created when Abraham Lincoln was elected has the nation been so divided. Was this hatred generated because Hillary was prevented from being the first woman president? Was Trump’s persona so grating and objectional? Was it because he “robbed” the Democrats of one of their major, long-time voting blocks in the Rust Belt? Are his alleged morals beyond the pale of those of our establishment elites to justify such hatred? Or is Trump so hated because the Witches of the media have waged a non-stop of verbal vitriol against him for the last six years?  Whatever the reason, it exists and will unlikely disappear.

Republicans do not universally “hate” Joe Biden. Most Republicans see him as an old man only partially in command of his mental and physical capacities. They see him stumbling at a loss for words, unable to find his way away from the rostrum without help, and with a shuffling gait seen unable to mount the stairs of Air Force One without falling. He is perceived neither in charge of the policies he advocates nor the speeches he reads. As such, Biden is seen as a weak president that commands no international respect within a rapidly disintegrating and dangerous international environment. Therefore, he must just be a puppet manipulated by an unknown, unaccountable person or group off stage – our Wizards.

Recently the Wall Street Journal reviewed the book,Untold Power: The Fascinating Rise and Complex Legacy of First Lady Edith Wilson” by Rebecca Boggs Roberts. Edith Wilson was the second wife of President Woodrow Wilson. After President Wilson had a debilitating stroke during his second term, Mrs. Wilson keep her husband shielded from others in the government, the press, and the public. She was effectively the acting president until Warren Harding took office early in 1921.

Perhaps the WSJ reviewed this story sensing that President Biden’s wife and his handlers were severely limiting his exposure and interactions as did Mrs. Wilson with her husband. All ten signs of Alzheimer’s Disease have been visible once or more times during Biden’s public appearances during his first two years in office. See Addendum Four – Signs of Moderate Alzheimer’s Disease

For the Democratic strategists, with the Biden/Harris Administration, they have painted themselves into the proverbial corner with no easy way out. They have a sitting president that a majority of their party does not want to run again, and with a vice-presidential running mate who has already reached her “respective level of incompetence” – your classic Peter Principle bureaucrat. He may not be healthy enough to complete his term in office, and she should not be allowed to replace him.

Biden is approaching senility: Trump is cantankerous. Neither is universally loved!
